A group of 84 Afghan government military forces crossed the border with Uzbekistan and asked for help, the country’s Foreign Ministry said
“On August 14, a group of 84 Afghan Armed Forces soldiers crossed the state border at a section of the state border with Afghanistan and were detained by the border guards of the State Border Guard Service. The trespassers did not offer resistance, and asked for help, including medical help, for three wounded soldiers”, – the statement said.
The troops were provided with medical assistance, food and temporary accommodation.
“At the same time, an accumulation of Afghan government troops has been observed on the Afghan side of the Termez-Hairoton Bridge. Measures are being taken to provide them with humanitarian assistance. The Uzbek Foreign Ministry is holding talks with the Afghan side on the return of Afghan citizens to their homeland and settling the situation in the area of the Termez-Hairaton bridge”, – the Uzbek Foreign Ministry added.
On Sunday, August 15, journalists and ordinary residents of Kabul started posting clips from the Afghan capital that show the rumble of helicopters and the rumble of gunfire. Many fear the Taliban have already entered Kabul.
