Servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent conducted a “young soldier” course with the basics of survival in the mountains for children from all regions of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
“Today, Russian peacekeepers were present at a sports and tourist camp for children, where they held classes to familiarize children with the activities of the peacekeeping contingent, and held classes on first aid. Children in practice during the competition worked out practically the acquired knowledge. Russian peacekeepers will continue to interact with youth sports camps”, said Alexander Korolev, a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
In addition, classes were held with the children to provide medical self-help and mutual assistance, as well as to provide medical care for injuries during sports and tourist trips. The course of the “young fighter” ended with competitions among children of different age groups to overcome an obstacle course and a climbing wall with a descent on ropes.
The hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh resumed on September 20, 2020. They became a continuation of a long-term conflict and resulted in civilian casualties. On the night of November 10, with the assistance of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the leadership of Azerbaijan and Armenia concluded a trilateral agreement on a complete cessation of hostilities. After signing the document, Moscow sent its peacekeeping mission to Karabakh.
