“We fear the worst is yet to come and the biggest wave of hunger is fast approaching”, – said the representative of the organization, his words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
According to him, the situation in the republic has worsened, and the conflict began to unfold faster than the organization expected.
He stressed that two million Afghan children need additional nutrition. The famine situation is aggravated by the drought, which triggered a crop failure. The organization plans to allocate funds in the amount of $200 million to help the population.
The military confrontation between the Taliban and government forces continues in the republic.
Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that the Afghan Foreign Ministry called for pressure on the Taliban.
