Nobody can guarantee the issue of further pumping blue fuel through the Ukrainian gas transportation system, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said adviser to the Minister of Energy Elena Zerkal.
“Much depends on Russia, and no one can guarantee the supply of Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine, because we know the practice of interrupting transit, we know how contracts are respected […] I don’t know what Merkel can guarantee us”, Zerkal said on the air TV channel “Ukraine 24”.
According to her, Kiev would like to see approximate plans for a dialogue between Germany and Russia regarding the issue of further pumping gas through the Ukrainian GTS. According to Aleksandr Sosnovsky, associate professor at the Institute for International Politics and Economics in Hamburg, Kiev has annoyed Berlin with its unfounded claims to Russia.
According to the head of the Kiev regional organization of the Youth Wing of the Opposition Platform – For Life party Denis Khamaidula, during her visit to Ukraine, Merkel may try to convince the country’s President Volodymyr Zelensky of the need to abide by the Minsk agreements.
