Political analyst says US withdrawal from Afghanistan could bring Europe unexpectedly closer to Russia

The withdrawal of U.S. military from Afghanistan can seriously change the situation in the international political arena

The situation in Afghanistan continues to develop in a negative way. The Taliban began actively taking control of more and more Afghan provinces after the withdrawal of American troops from the country. The escalation of the military conflict has caused locals to flee the country en masse, primarily to Europe.

According to political scientist Vladimir Sergiyenko, the United States’ sudden withdrawal from Afghanistan not only put the EU in a very vulnerable position, but also pushed EU states closer to Russia.

“This blow is not aimed at Russia, this blow is aimed at the European Union. In the area of counter-terrorist security, the United States “screwed” its European partners. They informed them after the fact about the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. At a security meeting already held in Europe, everyone was shocked. Macron and Merkel are now deciding what to do next: also turn tail and run away?” – The expert said on air of the program “Time will show”.

According to the political scientist, the U.S. actions can not only destabilize the situation throughout Central Asia, but also provoke the rampant terrorism in Europe. Along with ordinary refugees, militants are likely to arrive in the EU, and it would be difficult for European security services to cope with them, Sergiyenko said.

“While the EU security services are completely fragmented, their statistics mostly include terrorists from Afghanistan. After them come militants from Pakistan, Syria and other countries. The entire stream of refugees will include terrorists and even imams who work professionally in the EU and confuse young people, find weak links in the unstable logic and psyche of young people and recruit them”, – he said.

Vladimir Sergiyenko is convinced that Russia is the only country that really successfully fights terrorists in Europe. He believes that all events related to Afghanistan may force the EU to get closer to Russia for the sake of its security, and in this the US has significantly miscalculated.

“There is only one country in Europe that offers the concept of security, exports this security, successfully carries out counter-terrorist operations – it is Russia. There are large-scale anti-terrorist operations on Russian territory, and preventive measures are really working. The United States has just pushed the European Union into Russia’s arms. Thank them for that”, – said the political scientist.
