Media: US intelligence could not determine the version of the origin of COVID-19

US intelligence officials could not agree on the origin of the coronavirus, CNN reports, citing sources.

As noted by the TV channel “360”, the special services have already prepared a preliminary version of the report, which is currently being checked. According to the source, there is nothing out of the ordinary in the document, but it is possible that the data may change by the end of August. While research is ongoing, the results will not be published.

However, at this point, intelligence has not been able to pinpoint whether COVID-19 originated in the laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, or whether it passed on to humans naturally from animals.

At the end of May, the White House prepared a material in which the version of the spread of coronavirus due to an emergency in a scientific laboratory was not ruled out. The report of the American administration cites the words of US President Joe Biden that the intelligence community “has united around two possible scenarios, but has not come to a final conclusion on this issue”.

The politician clarified that he asked the relevant departments “to redouble efforts to collect and analyze information that will help bring to the final conclusion” on this issue and inform him about the results within 90 days. At the beginning of the year, an expert group from the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the Chinese city of Wuhan to find the origins of the coronavirus infection. WHO staff considered the laboratory version of COVID-19 as unlikely.

On the eve of radio Sputnik reported that the United States is looking for Chinese scientists to disclose information about the origin of COVID-19.
