Biden wants to host a Leaders for Democracy Summit

The virtual conference is scheduled for December 9-10, and the heads of state and government are invited to it.

According to channel 112 Ukraine, DW, citing a White House message, disseminated information that US President Joe Biden had invited leaders of states and civil society to an international virtual summit of “Leaders for Democracy”.

“The summit is scheduled for December 9-10. It is expected that the meeting will be attended by representatives of civil society, the private sector and philanthropists. The main topics of the talks are “commitments and initiatives on three main themes: confronting authoritarianism, fighting corruption and promoting respect for democracy”, the message says.

Details regarding the invited states are still unknown. The planned conference may become an alternative to the summits of the G20 countries, which are attended by economically strong states regardless of the form of government, and, in particular, countries such as China and Saudi Arabia, which are called authoritarian in the West.
