Supporters of the radical Taliban have taken control of the town of Pul-e-Khumri, which is the administrative centre of Baghlan province in northern Afghanistan. This was reported by the AFP news agency on Tuesday
According to its reports, “the Taliban are in the city, they have raised their flag in the central square as well as at the governor’s residence”. Government forces have allegedly been forced to retreat.
The agency notes that this is the eighth administrative centre to fall into the hands of radicals in recent days.
