Hundreds of Afghan forces surrender to Taliban

Hundreds of Afghan security forces surrendered to Taliban (banned in Russia) fighters, AFP news agency quoted a local official as saying

“Hundreds of soldiers, police and members of resistance forces who were at the [Kunduz province] airport this morning surrendered to the Taliban with all their equipment”, – a provincial council member  told AFP.

The Taliban control the centres of seven of the country’s nine northern provinces, the Afghan news agency Pajhwok reported Wednesday, citing senior officials. Government forces remain in control of Mazar-e-Sharif and Meymene, the centres of Balkh and Faryab provinces respectively.+
