Russian Su-25 attack aircraft provided fire support for motorized rifle and tank units, as well as air cover for the landing of airborne assault forces during the active phase of the joint exercises of Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which are 20 km from the territory of Afghanistan.
“The pilots took off from the Gissar airfield and launched group air strikes using more than 350 S-8 unguided air-to-surface missiles at targets simulating a convoy of lightly armored vehicles and an accumulation of illegal armed forces. Air strikes were carried out at speeds from 650 to 700 km / h and altitudes from 50 to 2.5 thousand meters”, the press service of the Central Military District said.
As previously reported by News Front, more than ten Russian planes and helicopters will take part in the joint maneuvers. In total, more than 2.5 thousand servicemen and more than 500 units of military equipment and weapons will participate in the exercises at the Harb-Maidon training ground near the border with Afghanistan.
