Ukrainian expert Yuri Atamanyuk said that Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko could easily win the presidential elections in Ukraine and lead the country, according to “Narodnye Novosti”.
Lukashenko’s big press conference aroused great interest from the people of Ukraine. During his conversation with journalists, the President of Belarus made a number of harsh statements against the Ukrainian government. In addition, Lukashenko said that he could receive support from more than 90% of Ukrainians.
“Lukashenko knows the sociological sentiments in Ukraine. If we hypothetically imagine the situation that tomorrow there will be presidential elections in Ukraine, and Alexander Lukashenko can run for them, then he is right. He will gain more than 50% of the votes in the first round. He will be supported by Western, Central and Eastern Ukraine. He will simply show what he did in Belarus”, – Atamanyuk said.
In his opinion, the sanctions imposed by Kiev against Minsk could have extremely negative consequences for the economic situation in Ukraine, its energy security and the standard of living of ordinary Ukrainians. The expert recalled that Kiev continues to envy the supply of electricity from Belarus, since the industrial sector in Ukraine has been almost completely destroyed.
“We had six refineries, which were left to us by the ‘bad’ Soviet Union, but we destroyed our refining industry. Belarus has completely modernized its two plants, certified for the best fuel materials and is now exporting to all countries of the world. And we are directly dependent on them in this situation”, – concluded Atamanyuk.
Earlier it became known that electricity in Ukraine rose by 20% over the week. As News Front reported, Ukrainians believe that by raising tariffs, Kiev wants to cash in on them.
