The European Commission (EC) will not finance the construction of the wall on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border from the EU budget. This was announced today, August 10, by the representative of the EC Adalbert Janz.
“The European Commission does not consider it correct to finance the construction of barriers and barriers from EU funds. Therefore, this infrastructure facility should not be financed from EU funds”, he said, answering a relevant question.
Recall that due to the influx of illegal migrants from the territory of Belarus, Lithuania plans to build a wall on the border with the neighboring republic. The estimated cost of the work will be 152 million euros. The fence will be a 4-meter high fence made of welded metal wire mesh, over which concertina (barbed wire with sharp blades) will be stretched. An additional row of this 3 m high barbed wire will be installed in front of the fence.
