The press service of the Central Military District (CMD) reported that more than ten Russian aircraft and helicopters will be involved in joint exercises of Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which will take place 20 km from the border with Afghanistan
“Practical actions will involve a wing of Su-25 attack aircraft, Mi-24 attack helicopters, as well as Mi-8 transport and combat helicopters of various modifications. During the main stage of the exercises the pilots will perform tasks of searching camouflaged bases of the conventional enemy and carrying out missile and bomb strikes on targets simulating the accumulation of manpower and equipment”, – the Central Military District reported.
Crews of transport helicopters will ensure the landing of tactical landing crafts, and they will also practice methods of evading strikes of portable anti-aircraft missile systems of the simulated enemy.
As News Front reported earlier, the joint maneuvers of Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have started at the training range Kharb-Maydon near the border with Afghanistan. More than 2,500 servicemen and about 500 pieces of armament and military hardware will take part in the maneuvers.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Army General Valery Gerasimov emphasized that in the current military-political situation Russia and Uzbekistan should together counteract terrorist threats.
