Political analyst Vladimir Soloveichik, in a commentary to the FAN, assessed the decision of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to close “every meter of the border”.
Earlier, Lukashenko instructed security officials to close “every meter of the border” so that the country’s residents feel calm, since “a very dangerous situation” is developing on the borders of Belarus.
“In this situation, the decision of the president of our brotherly Belarus is absolutely justified. Lukashenka protects not only the borders of his country, but also ours, since the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus are part of the Union State. Therefore, the borders of the Republic of Belarus are also the borders of Russia, their protection – and the protection of our borders”, the expert noted.
In his opinion, Lukashenko’s actions became an adequate and proportionate response to the provocative policies of the EU countries and Lithuania, in particular. Soloveichik stressed that European countries “are playing with fire, and Lithuania has already played out”.
“The migration crisis has overtaken the ruling Lithuanian bourgeois nationalists, and they cannot solve it at the expense of the neighboring country. Belarus defends its borders. Like a year ago, Lukashenko is acting decisively and repelling all attempts by the Western imperialist powers to turn Belarus into their colony”, the expert added.
