Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte announced that the republic intends to build a fence on the border with Belarus, using the state budget, which is suffering from a deficit, writes “Sputnik Lithuania”.
“Now it will be funds that will be allocated from the state budget, bearing in mind that the balance of the state budget is negative, ie. a budget with a deficit, this will mean credit funds”, imonyte said.
According to her, the issue of financing the project from the European Union also remains open. The prime minister stressed that the risk of illegal migration is a problem for the entire EU, not just Lithuania. Earlier, the security service of the Lithuanian state border proposed to build a barbed wire fence with a length of more than 500 meters – its cost is estimated at 15 million euros.
As previously reported by News Front, Lithuania turned to the European Union for help in resolving the migration crisis. According to Foreign Minister Gabrielus Landsbergis, Brussels should take an active part in solving the problem of the influx of illegal migrants from Asia and Africa.
