The goal of Western opponents is to “imitate indignation over the course of the election campaign and its results,” said the head of the temporary committee of the Federation Council for the protection of state sovereignty and prevention of interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation.
Andrei Klimov, head of the temporary commission of the Federation Council for the protection of state sovereignty and prevention of interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation, told TASS that Russia’s western opponents are planning to organize demarches near Russian diplomatic institutions abroad with the help of Russian-speaking citizens in order to discredit the upcoming September elections and the election campaign as a whole.
“It is supposed to very actively use Russian-speaking persons abroad. Not citizens of Russia, I will note, but those who speak Russian – they may come from various countries. And it is supposed with their help to organize all sorts of demarches near our diplomatic institutions, first of all, in Europe and, possibly, in the USA”, the senator said.
According to him, the goal of Western opponents is to “imitate indignation over the course of the election campaign and its results.”
According to the head of the Federation Council’s non-interference commission, this election campaign, like the previous one, “is also characterized by large-scale and rather aggressive attempts to discredit the Russian elections by a number of Western and pro-Western organizations”.
