Ukraine occupies the third position on the strategic list
This is evidenced by a poll conducted in the country in June this year by order of the American International Republican Institute (IRI).
According to the poll, the respondents’ answers were divided as follows: EU – 44%, US – 44%. Next come Ukraine – 23%, Turkey – 22%, Azerbaijan – 19%, Russia – 17%, China – 13%, Armenia – 4% and Iran – 2%. No country is considered an economic partner of Georgia by 2% of the respondents; 5% refused to answer the question.
When asked which of these countries posed the greatest economic threat to Georgia, the majority of those surveyed responded: Russia 71%, Turkey 12%, China 4%, the United States 3%, Azerbaijan 3%, Armenia 3%, Iran 2%, the EU less than 1% and Ukraine less than 1%. No country is considered an economic threat to Georgia by 3% of the respondents; 15% refused to answer the question.
The IRI survey was conducted from June 15 to 30, 2021. Nationwide, 1,500 citizens of Georgia at the age of 18 or older were interviewed by direct interview according to the so-called selective sampling.
