More than 100 illegal migrants have entered Lithuania since the beginning of this day

Since midnight, 109 migrants have illegally crossed the border of Lithuania from Belarus, EuaAsia Daily reports, citing local media

“As of now, 109 more migrants have been detained at the Belarusian border. We can see that these figures are quite large, probably, there will be an impressive number of illegal immigrants today, too”, –  the head of the State Border Guard Service Rustam Lubayev said in an interview to “Lithuanian Radio.”

It is noted that on Sunday a record was set since the beginning of the crisis at the border with Belarus – border guards detained 289 illegal migrants. In total, more than 4 thousand people have crossed into Lithuanian territory this year.

“Syrians are growing especially fast. Already in the fourth place. This line has a huge growth potential. It is strange that Somalia is not noticeable. Somalis are active in Sweden. Probably will be soon. And, of course, we should wait for Afghanistan in the open”, –  noted Belarusian political scientist Yury Shevtsov.

Earlier, the Lithuanian authorities started the construction of the barbed wire fence on the border with Belarus. The fence will stretch for 30 kilometres along the areas most used by illegal migrants.
