Russian engineers helped solve land irrigation issues in Latakia

Irrigation towers were assembled according to Russian drawings

Engineers from the Russian Federation have helped their counterparts in the Syrian province of Latakia to build irrigation towers. The structures were assembled according to the drawings of Russian engineers, Anwar Maria, a representative of a local company assembling metal structures, told reporters.

In the mountainous part of Latakia, there is a problem with irrigation of land and supply of clean drinking water to local residents. The Syrian government is currently investing in infrastructure such as waterworks and pumping stations.

“This is the structure we have assembled according to the design of a Russian engineer – irrigation towers. We made them for the Dobrodon Dam”, –  Maria said.

The province of Latakia is in western Syria, washed by the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. The city of Latakia is Syria’s main port. The province is one of the tourist centres of Syria, with historical sites such as the ancient trading city-state of Ugarit, the castle of Sultan Saladin of Egypt and Syria.
