The State Administrative Council of Myanmar, set up by the military, which came to power, has announced the formation of an interim government in the country, Xinhua news agency reported
“According to the order, Min Aung Hlaing, commander-in-chief of the country’s armed forces and chairman of the State Administrative Council, will become prime minister of Myanmar. The deputy prime minister of the interim government will be So Win”, – the State Administrative Council said.
It is noted that Min Aung Hline, in a televised address to the nation on Sunday, promised to hold “multi-party general elections”. Recall that the military came to power in Myanmar on 1 February this year: a state of emergency was declared, which made it possible to oust the civil authorities.
These events led to numerous protests, which were violently dispersed by the military. Several hundred civilians were injured during the rallies.
