Kandahar airport hit by rocket attack

Three rockets have been fired at an airport in the Afghan city of Kandahar, with no information on casualties, AFP reports

“Three rockets were fired at the airport last night, two of them hitting the runway. All flights were cancelled”, –  airport head Masoud Pashtun said.

As News Front reported earlier, unidentified people in the north-western Afghan city of Herat attacked the United Nations mission. One person was killed, presumably a policeman.

The situation in Afghanistan has worsened against the background of the withdrawal of the American military contingent from the territory of the country. According to the latest information, the Taliban militants control more than 90% of the borders of Afghanistan. According to US intelligence, the Taliban are stepping up their offensive operations.
