Meetings of the American leader Joe Biden are his right, Moscow does not intend to interfere with the schedule of the American leader, but the status of the head of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya in these negotiations remains unclear, said the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov.
Last Wednesday, Biden received Tikhanovskaya at the White House. The American leader said that Washington supports the Belarusian people “on their way to democracy and universal human rights”.
“There is only one question – who does Ms. Tikhanovskaya represent. Who the US President is meeting with is his sovereign right, and here we cannot, and we are not going to, and we have no opportunity to interfere in any way. This is not our business,” RIA Novosti quotes Peskov.
He also noted that such meetings do not affect the situation in Belarus.
On Friday morning, Radio Sputnik reported that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko told what the meeting between US leader Joe Biden and the head of the Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tikhanovskaya would lead to.
