The press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has reported on the state debt of Ukraine
At the end of June, Ukraine’s public debt and publicly guaranteed debt amounted to UAH 2,514.36 billion. In dollar terms, the debt reached 92.52bn dollars.
At the same time, it is noted that during June 2021, the amount in UAH equivalent decreased by 2.36 billion, and in dollar equivalent the debt increased by 1.0 billion dollars. Such dynamics is explained, among other things, by the strengthening of the hryvnia. The dollar depreciated 1.2% to 27.18 hryvnia in June.
Meanwhile, Ukraine will have to make peak foreign debt payments in 2021. According to the Ukrainian Finance Ministry, the country has to pay nearly $20 billion on loans.
Former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov predicted famine for the country if the government fails to cope with the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.
