“Nord Stream 2” could come on stream in 2021

The head of Austrian oil company OMV, Rainer Seele, has said that the first gas through Nord Stream 2 is possible as soon as this year

“I have my fingers crossed for “Nord Stream 2″. The head of the company [Nord Stream 2 AG] says construction will be completed at the end of August. So we believe that gas can go this year, there is a good chance it will happen”, –  Seele said during a press conference on the company’s Q2 results.

The commissioning of Nord Stream 2 is expected in the second half of the year, he said. The OMV chairman also welcomed the agreement between the USA and Germany on Nord Stream 2, as it will ensure the completion of the project and the commissioning of the pipeline.
