US State Department official meets head of Mongolia’s parliament

Wendy Sherman, the US first deputy secretary of state, has visited Mongolia ahead of a visit to China. This was announced by State Department spokesman Ned Price

She met with Parliament Speaker Gombojavin Zandanshatar, Foreign Minister Batmunkhin Battsetseg and a number of officials.

“The Undersecretary of State stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between the US and Mongolia and discussed how to strengthen Mongolia’s democratic institutions and sovereignty, as well as diversify its economy”, –  the US diplomatic office said.

Sherman also had time to meet with the military. She thanked them for their participation in peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan.
