The White House intends to announce soon a contender for the post of US ambassador to Ukraine

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent has said that the White House plans to appoint an ambassador to Ukraine in the coming weeks

“We are in the process of selecting an ambassador now, it is a priority of the Biden administration – the first wave of ambassadorial appointments will include Ukraine. But at the end of the previous administration’s cadence there were 80 countries without American ambassadors, many of those countries had political appointees, while Ukraine has traditionally had diplomats with foreign policy experience. That is why I am sure that in a few weeks the White House will announce a qualified candidate”, – Kent said in his interview to “Suspicious”.

The US diplomat also confirmed that US President Joe Biden would not attend the Crimean Platform summit on 23 August.
