Kiev is ready to implement the “Steinmeier formula” on Donbass, but there is a condition for this, said Sergei Garmash, a member of the Kiev delegation in the contact group. On the air of radio Sputnik, the statement was commented on by expert Dmitry Rodionov.
Kiev is ready to implement the “Steinmeier formula” on Donbass, but for this it is necessary to unblock the work of the political subgroup to resolve the conflict in the region, said a member of the Kiev delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Sergei Garmash.
On the eve of the German Foreign Ministry said that it expects Kiev to implement the “Steinmeier formula” – agreed agreements defining the procedure for granting a special status to Donbass.
“Ukraine actually agreed on the introduction of this formula as an amendment to the law on special status (Donbass – ed.), But, according to the same Minsk agreements, Kiev must amend the law after consultations with ORDLO (separate districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, – ed.) .). But Russia has blocked the work of the political subgroup, where such consultations can take place”, – Garmash said.
In his opinion, in order to continue the discussion, Russia must unblock the work of the political subgroup in the TCG, and after consultations, the document can be sent for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada.
On the air of Sputnik radio, Dmitry Rodionov, director of the Center for Geopolitical Research of the Institute for Innovative Development, commented on Garmash’s statement.
“It’s surprising that someone else in Kiev remembers the existence of the“ Steinmeier formula. ”When (Vladimir) Zelensky became president, there was a lot of talk that the“ formula ”would be implemented, they even tried to do it, but somehow crookedly and obliquely: there were some muddy wording. Although the first two points of the Minsk agreements say that there should be a ceasefire and the equipment withdrawn. Kiev seems to have begun to carry out, but then happily forgot about everything. Literally the other day in the village of Zolote, where the the divorce of forces under Zelensky, provocations and shelling began again from the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Then what kind of “Steinmeier formula” can we talk about? If they even rolled back from the level that was in the first months of Zelensky’s presidency. what further political steps can we talk about”, – said Dmitry Rodionov.
