As a source in the military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the MAKS-2021 air show, the prototype of the modernized Ka-52M helicopter performed a series of successful firing of product 305 cruise missiles.
“The launches were carried out at one of the military training grounds and were recognized as successful,” the agency’s interlocutor said, adding that the “product 305” is equipped with a multispectral homing head and has the ability to retarget in the air.
The testing period is not specified. The upgraded Ka-52M helicopter is being developed following the use of the basic version of the Ka-52A Alligator in Syria. The first flight of the prototype took place in August 2020. It is planned to complete state tests in 2022. The Ka-52M received a new sighting and navigation system, a radar with an active phased antenna array, reinforced landing gear, and an expanded range of weapons.
