Lithuania calls the agreement between the US and Germany on Nord Stream 2 a mistake

Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis considers it possible to fix this by providing Ukraine with a roadmap for NATO membership.

According to TASS, speaking on Thursday in front of reporters, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielus Landsbergis said that the agreement between the United States and Germany on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was a mistake.

“I think this is a mistake that can be costly,” he said. “I see an opportunity to correct it by providing Ukraine with a roadmap for admission to NATO membership,” Landsbergis added.

On Wednesday, the US and Germany reached an agreement on the Nord Stream 2 project. In particular, Washington acknowledged that the sanctions would not stop its implementation, and Berlin pledged to seek an extension of the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine. US President Joe Biden said that Nord Stream 2 is 99% complete and it is impossible to stop its construction.
