State Department spokesman Ned Price said the U.S. will “hold accountable” Cuban government officials for what Washington considers to be human rights abuses amid protests in the country
The State Department spokesman said Washington “will be looking for ways” by which it could punish the Cuban authorities.
In particular, the new American measures include imposing new sanctions against representatives of the Cuban government as well as international pressure on Cuba.
It is noted that in the near future, US authorities intend to announce the first steps in the process of reviewing the policy towards Cuba. The process itself has been described as a “top priority” for the U.S.
