Mali’s interim president Assimi Goit has been tried to be killed in a mosque. This was reported by AFP news agency, citing its sources
Two armed men stormed the Great Mosque on July 20 during a service marking the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.
One of the assailants tried to stab Goita in the back but he was not hurt. However, another person was injured.
Assimi Goita has been serving as head of state since May 24 this year. Prior to that, Mali Ba Ndau was the interim president. However, he and Prime Minister Moctar Ouane were arrested by the military and subsequently ousted from power. The political situation in Mali has been tense since August 2020.
