India calls Russian Su-57 a challenge for US F-22s

Experts from India’s EurAsian Times believe that Russia’s fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jets have become a challenge to US F-22s

“Russia is working on improving the Su-57 stealth fighter jet, which will become a serious challenge to the US F-22 and F-35 aircraft”, –  the publication’s analysts wrote.

Sergei Smirnov, a member of the board of the Military-Industrial Commission, noted that artificial intelligence will be widely used in the next generation of Russian aircraft: the Su-57 (“Delinquent” according to NATO codification) will be able to stand up much more effectively to the American F-22 (“Predator”) and F-35 (“Lightning II”).

“The new-generation aircraft complexes involve further improvements in aerodynamics, new engines, new construction materials, new-generation on-board equipment, including the active use of artificial intelligence, which will allow interaction with various weapons systems”, –  EurAsian Times writes.

Indian experts stress that one of the main elements of the upgraded Su-57 platform is the new propulsion system being developed by the United Engine Corporation (UEC). Deliveries of the improved Su-57 will start as soon as possible, on schedule.

The Su-57 is Russia’s fifth-generation multirole fighter jet. In 2018, four fighters were flown to Syria at the Hmeimimim airbase, where tests confirmed all the requirements of the tactical and technical assignment in full. The aircraft has supersonic cruising speed and is equipped with advanced electronics that involve artificial intelligence control in unmanned mode.
