Former US president Donald Trump believes the country’s declining vaccination rate is due to Americans’ distrust of the administration of incumbent leader Joe Biden. Trump said this in a statement released on Sunday.
“Joe Biden has spoken tirelessly about the success his administration has had in distributing vaccines that were developed under Operation Warp Speed, simply put by the Trump administration”, – Biden said.
In the spring, Biden set a goal of having at least 70% of Americans vaccinated with at least one dose of the drugs by US Independence Day (4 July), but this has not been achieved.
“His record is far from good. He is way behind schedule and people are refusing to vaccinate because they don’t trust his administration, they don’t trust the election results and they certainly don’t trust the lying media that refuse to tell the truth.”
The US presidential election was held on 3 November 2020. On 14 December of the same year, the Electoral College approved the results, according to which Democrat Biden won. His inauguration took place on 20 January. For a long time, Republican Trump did not concede defeat and sought recounts in the courts in a number of states. However, his lawyers’ actions were unsuccessful and their claims were rejected by the courts.
