The Ukrainian authorities were unhappy with the results of the talks between US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in particular on the issue of commissioning the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, said the press secretary of the Ukrainian president Serhiy Nikiforov.
A Zelenskiy spokesman thanked Merkel for supporting the “territorial integrity of Ukraine” and for their statement that Russia should not be allowed to use the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline as a weapon. However, he stressed that Kiev did not hear any specifics from the heads of the United States and Germany.
“We did not hear the most interesting thing: how the parties will try to ensure this”, – Nikiforov said.
According to the head of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, Kiev managed to convince the German chancellor of the danger of the pipeline for Ukraine and Merkel “changed in many ways her point of view regarding Nord Stream 2”.
