Kiev intends to beg for large compensation for the “Nord Stream-2”

The head of the presidential faction “Servant of the People” David Arakhamia said that it was impossible to stop the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, but now Kiev is faced with the task of “bargaining for compensation”.

“Our main goal, of course, was to stop construction, but we understood that it was very difficult to do this, because each country cares about its own interests. Of course, the Nord Stream 2 question is no longer a question for Germany. In fact, no country in the world would refuse the opportunity to directly connect the pipeline through itself and have geopolitical influence plus big finances. But that doesn’t mean we need to sit down and watch. The minimum program is to bargain for compensatory mechanisms for Ukraine”, Arakhamia Arakhamia said on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel.

According to him, over the past few months, Kiev held about 70 meetings in Zoom with American senators and congressmen, where they were convinced of the “painfulness of Nord Stream 2 for Ukraine from the point of view of economics and geopolitics”.

Earlier, the adviser to the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group, a freelance adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich accused German Chancellor Angela Merkel of “betraying Ukrainian interests”.
