The Kremlin said they do not officially question the territorial integrity of Ukraine

At the same time, the press secretary of the Russian president said that the expert community can express any point of view.

According to TASS, on Thursday, answering a question from a Ukrainian journalist about a broad expert discussion, which was caused by an article published earlier by Russian President Vladimir Putin “On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians,” the official level does not question the territorial integrity of Ukraine, and experts are free to express any opinion.

“You know that no one officially questions the territorial integrity of Ukraine. There have been no official statements on this matter”, – said Peskov, commenting, among other things, on the discussion by experts of the part of the material that dealt with the initial territorial composition of the country.

“As for the expert discussions, the experts are free to discuss it the way they want”.

At the same time, the presidential press secretary stressed that even if the experts belong to the ruling party, their opinion is in no way connected with the official position of the Russian Federation. In particular, he noted that on the site of United Russia, the deputies express a variety of opinions.

“No way”, – said Peskov, answering the question whether modern Ukraine with President Volodymyr Zelensky should be wary of such expert statements and consider them as territorial claims on the part of Russia.

The spokesman for the Russian leader also recalled that in his article, Putin spoke in general about those “time mines” that were “planted” under the USSR, about the legal principles of the formation of union republics.

“As for the discussion, it is indeed very active. The article is very, very resonant and, indeed, it attracts a lot of attention from different experts who express different points of view”, – Peskov emphasized.
