The Haitian authorities have disclosed the details of a special operation to search for and eliminate terrorists who attacked the presidential residence and who were responsible for the murder of the country’s president, Jovenel Moise.
“Seven suspects of involvement in the assassination of the president were killed during police operations supported by the population. Six people directly involved in the assassination of the president have been detained”, – said Haitian Police Chief Leon Charles.
According to the minister for elections and inter-party relations, Matthias Pierre, the group that raided the presidential residence consisted of 26 people. It is noted that among the detainees were two citizens of the United States of Haitian origin, however, the official representative of the US State Department Ned Price said that he could neither confirm nor deny such information.
Haitian President Jovenel Moise, who has led the state since 2017, was shot and wounded in a fatal attack by unknown assailants on his residence.
