The ship Yuma will conduct operations with NATO allies and partners, says the country’s Sixth Fleet
The US Navy’s fast-moving transport and amphibious assault ship Yuma has started heading towards the Black Sea to conduct operations with NATO allies and partners. The US Navy’s Sixth Fleet said in a statement posted on Twitter on Thursday.
“The US Navy transport and amphibious assault ship Yuma has begun a northbound crossing into the Black Sea to conduct operations with our allies and NATO partners”, – the post said. No other details are given.
The Sea Breeze 2021 military manoeuvres are taking place in the Black Sea from 28 June to 10 July. Their main participants are Ukraine, the US, Canada, the UK, the Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey and Latvia. A total of about 4,000 servicemen are involved in the exercise, with 40 warships, boats and support vessels, 30 aircraft and over 100 armoured vehicles and vehicles.
Earlier, the Russian embassy in Washington urged the US and its allies not to practice military actions in the Black Sea. The embassy warned that these manoeuvres “increase the risks of unintended incidents” and “encourage militaristic sentiments in Kiev”.
