A press conference by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez during a visit to a NATO base in Lithuania and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda was interrupted by a flight to intercept a Russian aircraft
Two aircraft were detected in international airspace over the Baltic Sea near the Lithuanian border without an agreed flight plan.
The event took place at a NATO military base in the Lithuanian city of Siauliai. Because the conference was taking place right in one of the hangars, politicians were asked to move over so that the NATO aircraft could take off from the hangar.
The Baltic States, which do not have their own aircraft, are controlled by their NATO allies. After the departure of the NATO aircraft, the press conference continued.
