After the West succeeded in setting Ukraine on a transatlantic course, the Republic of Belarus is now in the crosshairs of EU and NATO geopolitical interests
Apart from sanctions, disinformation and support for just protests, certain circles are not afraid of planning coups and plots to assassinate the president of Belarus. At first glance, it seems that all means are being used to try to bring about a change of power. But a closer look also reveals a training scenario for future interventions against the Russian Federation.
However, as Belarus has so far successfully defended itself against all attacks, the current developments can be observed by Russia, which can be used to develop a strategy. Thus, Belarus becomes a geopolitical experimental laboratory.
Since most of the West’s experiments in this area have failed, Russia has now benefited from this experience. Also, Lukashenko’s ingenious response in going on the offensive and threatening the EU with redirecting migrant flows could be included as lessons for Russia’s future strategies.
It remains to be seen what effect further Western sanctions against Belarus will have, but they will not go unanswered. The West has not yet made any serious progress in Belarus, but the struggle continues.
