Trump calls allegations against his company a “communist dictatorship”

Former US president believes Democrats are “twisting the law and using it as a weapon against their political opponents”

Speaking at a rally to his supporters in Florida, he claimed that Democrats were “twisting the law and using it as a weapon against their political opponents”.

“The extreme left-leaning prosecutors of the city and state of New York who have allowed crime to skyrocket <…> outrageously and disgracefully continue the greatest witch hunt of all. This is what they do. They are coming and making me their target,” the former head of state said. According to him, action has been taken against him ever since he announced his decision to run in the 2016 presidential election. At the same time, Trump referred to special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s investigation into allegations about the Republican’s ties to Russia. “Remember? Mueller. 18 angry Democrats, <…> they spent $48 million and at the end they said, ‘There was no collusion'”, –  the former president recalled.

“This is the kind of harassment they’re doing in New York, for example, they’re doing it everywhere, [the harassment] you might see in third-world countries. It’s not for us. It’s reminiscent of a communist dictatorship that targets its political opponents. <…> They persecute people, good people, <…> who love their country, honest people, [using] trumped-up charges to try to silence them,” Trump continued. He called it “completely unacceptable” for US prosecutors to fight for the position by “promising to take down their political opponents”. “It’s [something] fascist and authoritarian,” the former president said.
