Meanwhile, the former president said the current Washington administration, led by Joe Biden, was not obstructing the project
Former U.S. President Donald Trump believes that he managed to seriously hinder the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, while the current administration in Washington, led by Democrat Joe Biden, does not hinder the implementation of the project. The Republican made the assertion at a rally in Florida on Saturday, broadcast by local TV stations.
“Biden has cancelled the US Keystone XL pipeline. Can you believe it? And he has approved a Russian pipeline to Europe”, – he said. The incumbent US leader in January ordered the cancellation of the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Canada to the US.
“And they say Trump hasn’t been tough enough on Russia. Really? I stopped their pipeline. The pipeline was the most important source of revenue for Russia. And I stopped it [construction]. And this guy immediately gave it the green light”, – believes the former US president. – “And I actually had and have a very, very good relationship with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin”, – Trump believes. – “But it’s a good thing, not a bad thing. It’s a really good thing.”
Trump also accused Democrats of spreading misinformation on various topics, including about him and Russia. “Like [saying that] <…> ‘Trump was so friendly to Russia, Trump was working for Russia.’ You know, they say it over and over again in the lying media. <…> I denounced the pipeline, I stopped the pipeline to Europe,” the former head of state continued, referring to the sanctions imposed by his administration on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project. “I don’t think they like me too much,” Trump added.
