At least 17 people killed in plane crash in Philippines

A Lockheed C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft crashed in the Sulu archipelago in the southwestern Philippines. According to various sources, there were from 85 to 92 people on board the aircraft.

According to the AR agency, 40 people were removed from under the burning debris of the fuselage, at least 17 soldiers were killed. According to the Minister of National Defense of the country, Dolphin Lorenzan, there were 92 people on board, including three pilots and five crew members.

The chief of staff of the armed forces of the Philippines, General Cirilito Sobehana, in turn, said that the crash of a military plane was due to an unsuccessful landing past the runway, after which a massive fire broke out.
