A White House official believes the Belarusian president is trying to divert attention from a campaign of repression against his people.
The US government is aware of the decision of the Belarusian authorities to close the border with Ukraine and promises to hold Lukashenka accountable for their actions. This was announced on Friday by a senior official from the administration of US President Joe Biden, according to Reuters.
“It seems that the Lukashenko regime is again trying to divert attention from its campaign of repression against its people. We will continue to stand on the side of the Belarusian people and bring the regime to justice”, – said a White House official.
