Bloomberg accused “Russian hackers” of attacking IT company Kaseya

The extortionists, according to the agency, are demanding a ransom in the amount of $44.9 thousand.

According to TASS, the international software company Kaseya (“Kaseya”) was subjected to a cyberattack using a ransomware virus. According to Bloomberg on Friday, hackers linked to Russia could be behind the attack.

“Kaseya, headquartered in Dublin and Miami, Florida, produces software for companies that provide remote Internet services. The cyberattack affected at least six of these companies, with some 200 smaller firms serving as clients. Presumably, their data was temporarily blocked. The extortionists, according to the agency, are demanding a ransom in the amount of $ 44.9 thousand”, – the message says.

In a statement on Kaseya’s website, the company is providing services to “only a limited number of customers” as of Friday due to a “potential attack”. Before completing an investigation into the causes of the incident, the company advised customers to stop using their services. The US Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Agency (CISA) noted in turn that it “took action” to establish the causes and eliminate the consequences of the alleged cyber attack.

According to Bloomberg, hackers from the REvil group may be behind the attack. The agency claims they may be linked to Russia. Earlier it was alleged that hackers from this group attacked the networks of the American division of the meat processing company JBS in late May. But no evidence of the involvement of “Russian hackers” is traditionally provided.
