Russian embassy in US rejects allegations of Russian state agencies’ involvement in cyberattacks

The diplomatic mission believes that cyber attacks on critical infrastructure facilities in Russia are continuously carried out from the U.S. territory

The Russian embassy in Washington categorically rejects the version that Russian state agencies are involved in cyber-attacks on various facilities in and outside the US, a joint document of US and British intelligence agencies distributed on Thursday, TASS reported.

“We categorically reject the involvement of Russian state structures in attacks “on government and private facilities in the United States and beyond”, –  the statement, published on the embassy’s Facebook page, reads.

The Russian diplomatic mission stressed that “the fight against cybercrime is a priority for Russia and an integral part of its state policy to counter all forms of crime, for the implementation of which a wide arsenal of law enforcement tools is used.”

“Given the global nature of cyber threats, which have recently been increasingly emerging as a challenge to stratstability, the most effective way to counter them is through the active cooperation of authorised agencies of states”, –  the embassy noted.

The embassy expressed hope that Washington “will abandon the practice of unsubstantiated accusations and focus on professional work with Russian experts on strengthening international information security”. The diplomatic mission also stated that it would be “justified for the US to bring order to the American territory, from where the constant attacks on critical infrastructure of Russia are coming.”
