Latvian Foreign Minister urged residents to refrain from travelling to Belarus because of “provocations”

Edgars Rinkevichs notes that the agency will be able to provide consular assistance if necessary

According to TASS, Friday, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevichs called on residents of the Baltic States to refrain from travelling to Belarus because of possible “provocations” in the neighboring country.

“I would advise against visiting Belarus because provocations from this country cannot be ruled out. Of course, if necessary, we can provide consular assistance, but the situation there is not as simple as we know it”, –  he said on LTV.

According to him, after the incident with the Ryanair plane in Minsk, Europe is united on the issue of sanctions against Belarus.

“If we look at the discussions that were held before and after the Ryanair hijacking, now Europe is united in imposing sanctions against Belarus”, –  said the head of the Latvian Foreign Ministry.
