German Foreign Ministry believes that Ukraine should not suffer from the launch of the Nord Stream-2

Berlin said that they are doing everything possible so that the launch of the gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine does not hit the country.

According to the Correspondent, during a joint press conference with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said that Germany is doing everything possible so that Ukraine does not suffer from the commissioning of the Russian Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.

“We note once again that we were a mediator in negotiations between Ukraine and Russia on gas transit. We have provided an alternative gas transit through Ukraine. It is also important for us to try to ensure that Ukraine does not incur losses due to the lack of transit”, – Maas stressed, adding that on this occasion Germany is negotiating with the United States, as well as with Ukraine.

The German Foreign Minister stressed that if economic relations with Russia became impossible, this would complicate the situation in Europe.

“This will bring China and Russia closer. To bring this to this would not only be a wrong way, but also a threat to our security in Europe”, – Maas said, adding that he did not consider such a strategy to be correct
