Ukrainian president earlier said that during his visit to the USA he intended to discuss security issues, Nord Stream, Donbass and Crimea with the US leader
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the format of the United States’ participation in the Donbas settlement process will be a key topic of the talks between US and Ukrainian presidents Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelenskyy scheduled for July.
“The programme-maximum is to take a new step in the issues of interaction <…> in the sphere of security and defence, investment and trade. I don’t know yet if we will come out of the meeting with a ready answer about what the US involvement in the process of a political and diplomatic settlement and countering Russian aggression will be, but for sure the presidents will talk about it in great detail,” he said in an interview published Thursday with the Ukrainian publication Liga. – “This will be a key topic.”
He clarified that the challenge in the negotiations on Donbass is “to find a format for their [the US] participation that will produce maximum results”. “The Americans are already in this process. But this is not enough to change Russia’s behaviour,” the minister said.
Previously, Zelensky said that during his visit to the US in July, he intended to discuss with Joe Biden “several important blocks”, in particular security issues, Nord Stream, Donbass, Crimea, security near the Black Sea and Azov Sea coast, Ukrainian fleet issues, as well as economic issues, among which cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.
In early June, Zelensky had a phone conversation with Biden, during which the US leader invited Zelensky to visit the White House this summer.
