The Belarusian president added that “only the people suffer from this”
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has said that the sovereignty of his southern neighbour, Ukraine, is “melting”, but the brotherly Ukrainian people are not to blame.
“We see the sovereignty and independence of our southern neighbours “melting”. Let the southerners forgive us, but it has happened. And we have to remember and speak about it more than once. Only people suffer from this, and we cannot allow the fraternal ties between the peoples to be broken”, – Lukashenko said at the plenary session of the Russia-Belarus Forum on Thursday.
“You said the right thing yesterday [during the direct line]”, – Lukashenko addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin. – “The Ukrainian people are not to blame for anything, they are our brotherly people, we have always been together with these people and will always be together. But what can one do if the leadership of our brotherly Ukraine has chosen a different way?”
In this connection the President of Belarus thanked Putin and all the Russians “for the support in the struggle for the preservation of the sovereignty and independence of Belarus.
